FedEx profit more than doubles in fiscal 3rd qtr

FedEx Corp. said Thursday its profit between December and February more than doubled as its ground and freight segments shipped more packages and charged higher prices.

In its fiscal third quarter, the world’s second-largest package delivery company earned $521 million or $1.65 per share, compared with $231 million, or 73 cents per share, a year earlier.

Close the FedEx Loophole

Congress may soon vote on a bill to close the FedEx loophole that makes it harder for FedEx workers to unionize.

For years the corporation has used its lobbying muscle to be classified as an airline. This puts FedEx under the Railway Labor Act, which makes it much harder for workers to organize a union.
